WHAT ?

The specific area we will ask ChatGPT to help us will be the Relative Age Effect ( RAE) in Grassroots Youth Football.

We asked ChatGPT to define RAE for someone unfamiliar with the subject and the resposne was " Relative Age Effect (RAE) in youth football refers to the observed advantage in performance and opportunities that often favor those athletes who are born earlier in the selection year, due to differences in physical and psychological development.

Why focus on RAE? Because it is the simplest method to reverse the Effect which discriminates against recruiting 'late birthdays ' ( those born in Quarter 4) and also sees these group as the first to quit the game.

It is a phenomenal waste time , money and resources . The analogy is ' like buying 3 National Lottery Tickets every week but then throwing one of them away EVERY WEEK!'

Thus with the help of ChatGPT you will be therefore get access to these Take - aways

  1. How to assess RAE in your Club or Association
